TRUMAN STATE UNIVERSITY HOMECOMING

2019 & 2020

Truman State University celebrates Homecoming each October and centers celebrations and festivities around a common theme. Truman's 2019 theme was "Better Together." This design featured typographic interactions with shaking hands to show the commitment to togetherness and unity on campus and in the surrounding Kirksville community. This design was made with students in mind and featured bright colors not usually found on Truman apparel. This design won 1st place in the Apparel Design category at the ACUI Region II "Steal This Idea" competition in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I also designed a sticker and schedule of events poster to share information with the community.

Truman's 2020 theme was "Close or Apart We're Bulldogs at Heart." This theme was chosen to fit with the COVID-19 pandemic and celebrate a nontraditional Homecoming.  Because alumni and friends were not allowed to visit campus to celebrate, this apparel reassured Truman alumni that no matter the distance, they would always be Bulldogs at heart. The shirt back features a small COVID-19 graphic with a mask reflecting the sign of the times. I also designed stickers to hand out to students, a schedule of events poster to share event information, and a photo booth to encourage student engagement on social media.
